Before you start deleting information about previously visited websites, it is important to know that when it is cleared, the following information will be erased:

  • Information about websites that user visited, including the time of the visit;
  • Information about the entered search queries in any of the search engines;
  • Information about the websites that are most frequently visited by the user;
  • The chronological order of opening certain pages of the website through Safari;
  • Data on the most visited websites that were not user marked as permanent;
  • Cached data about previously visited websites, for example, icons of previously opened web pages;
  • A list of websites that have requested various information from the user, such as permission to determine the location or send notifications;
  • User’s permissions for websites to work with the WebGL technology;
  • Information about web pages that were launched using Power Saver.

Please note: If Safari data synchronization is configured in the iCloud settings on your computer, the history of previously viewed websites will be erased, and that includes the cloud storage.

To delete the history of previously visited websites in Safari on a MacBook, iMac or another computer running Mac OS, you will need to:

  1. Launch Safari browser, this can be done through the dock icon, LaunchPad or SpotLight;
  2. In the top menu, click on the “History” button, after which you are going to see a drop-down menu. Here you need to select the last item – “Clear history”;

A pop-up window will appear, indicating that when you confirm these actions, information about the websites will be deleted, as well as all cookies that were saved while you have been working with resources. To completely remove information about previously visited websites, in the “Clear” drop-down menu, select “All History” and click “Clear History.”

If the history of the stored data is extensive, it may take considerable time to clear it completely.

Safari is installed by default on iPhone and iPad, and many users are actively working with it. If you need to erase information about previously visited websites in iOS, it is important to know that at the same time the following information about visited resources will be deleted:

  • Information about web pages visited by the user through the Safari browser, including the chronology of links to these websites;
  • Information about the frequency of visits to certain websites;
  • Information about the queries that were used to accessed the search engines via Safari, including entering queries directly into the address bar and using the default search engine;
  • Saved cookies and page icons that were previously opened;
  • Websites that have been added by the user to the “Quick Site Search” section;
  • A list of resources to which the user has given various rights, including the tracking of his location.

To delete the site history in Safari on an iPhone or iPad, you will have to:

  1. Launch the “Settings” application on an iOS device;
  2. Then go to the “Safari” section, which contains data on the settings of the main browser of the mobile operating system;

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page, where you will find the “Clear History and Website Data” button. You need to click it;

  1. A pop-up window will appear asking you to confirm the action. If you are sure that you want to delete all saved information from the device, click “Clear History and Data.”

After that, the information about the visited pages in Safari on the iOS device will be deleted.
