How to determine wi-fi password on Mac
If you have connected your Mac to a Wi-Fi point, then it saves information about the password entered. The computer’s administrator can view this password using the “Keychain Assess” utility, which is installed by default on every Mac. To run the utility, call Spotlight (Command + Space) and enter “Keychain Assess”, then after the program is detected – run it.
There will open an application that contains information about all the passwords entered on a particular computer from various applications, networks and other things. On the left side of the utility you need to switch to the “Local Items” (or “iCloud”) category at the top of the window and the “Passwords” category at the bottom. To make it easier to search for the desired password, sort the data in the “Kind” column by clicking on it. After that, in the “Name” column find the name of the Wi-Fi network that is secured by a password that you need to determine. After finding it, click on it twice.
Now you are going to see a new window. Here at the bottom you need to click on the “Show password” item to open information about passwords to a Wi-Fi network.
A confirmation window will appear, and in this window you need to enter the password for your Mac account. Enter it and click “OK”.
If you entered the password correctly, a check mark will be set next to “Show password” and the password will be displayed in the box next to it. This is the desired Wi-Fi network password that you were looking for.
As you can see, it is quite simple to determine the password that allows you computer to be connected to a particular Wi-Fi network. What is important, you can see the password for a Wi-Fi point even if you did not connect your device to it for a very long time, for example, thereby helping your friends remember their Wi-Fi passwords.
How to determine wi-fi password on iPhone
Important note: The Wi-Fi password can be determined on the iPhone only if you have a computer running Mac OS — MacBook, iMac, Mac Pro, or another. Otherwise there will be no chance to determine a password that connects your iPhone to a particular Wi-Fi network.
You can find the necessary password from the Wi-Fi network that connects your iPhone to the Internet thanks to the Apple ecosystem and the Keychain application, which is being synchronized in iCloud. The first step is to make sure that the iCloud password synchronization is set up on the iPhone. To do this, go to the settings and go to the “Passwords and Accounts” section.
Here select the “iCloud” option.
Scroll a little down through the opened page to the “Keychain Assess” item. Click it.
Make sure the switch in this section is activated. If not, then you need to activate it.
Please note: As soon as you activate this switch, information about your passwords will be available on all Mac OS and iOS devices where your iCloud account is entered.
After that, you need to make sure that password synchronization is activated on your Mac, where you will detect the password from the desired Wi-Fi network. To do this on a Mac, click on the apple icon in the upper left corner and go to “System preferences”.

Next you should sort passwords by type to make it easier to find the right one. Wi-Fi passwords will be labeled “AirPort Network Password”. Double-click on the name of the network that has a desired password and view it.
There will open a new window, and here you need to click “Show password”, after which you will need to enter the password for the computer’s user account.
Next, the password from the Wi-Fi network will appear next to the “Show password” checkmark.
This is the only way to find the Wi-Fi password on the iPhone. It is not going to be possible to detect it on just a smartphone alone.
