How this works
Exactly as stated – the message from you will be received by the other party without sound. That is, you send a message to a particular person, no matter text or voice, and they receive it, but without audio notification.
Please note: When you are sending a message this way, the other party receives the push notification itself, but it is silent. Unlike the situation when the user completely turns off notifications from a specific contact, chat or group in Telegram.
How to send a silent message from your computer
Important note: We will consider the possibility of sending such a message from the official Telegram client for both – Windows and MacOS. This function works in both systems the same way.
To send a message without audio notification in Telegram, first of all go to your chat with the desired user. Enter your message and right-click on the send message arrow.
You are going to see a context menu. In this menu you will need to select “Send Without Sound”.
After that, the message will be sent immediately.
Please note: Sending a message without sound is a very useful tool in case you would like to remind a person of something without distracting them from work or sleep with loud notifications. Another option that may come in handy in such a situation is sending a delayed message in Telegram.
How to send a silent message from your phone
Now let’s see how to send such a message via Telegram on a smartphone or tablet. Please note that the instructions are relevant for users with devices based on Android and iOS both.
To send a message without sound, go to the chat with the desired user, write the message and hold your finger on the send button.
You are going to see a context menu. Now you need to select “Send Without Sound”.
Your message will be sent and the user will receive it immediately without being disturbed by the notification sound.
