Saving Telegram correspondence

Telegram correspondence often contains important information that you would not want to lose. Whereas this might easily happen – if the other participant (or participants) of the chat will decide to delete the messages, it will be impossible to restore them. So it is definitely better to take care of all important correspondence in advance. This can be done in just a few clicks, saving all information from being deleted.

How does Telegrams save correspondence

Telegram offers an export tool that makes it possible to save all correspondence, both for an individual user and for a group of users in a chat. But this is not the only way to keep the correspondence. Some other ways are available only in certain versions of the messenger, while others can be used everywhere – on a computer or phone.

How to save correspondence in Telegram

Let’s take a look at some of the main ways to save your correspondence.

Export of correspondence and files

When saving correspondence this way, every user has an opportunity to select the data that he wants to save: photos, audio messages, stickers, files and everything else that can be sent via Telegram. In addition, you can save the entire correspondence or only the correspondence in a certain date range, which is useful if the correspondence is quite large and saving the entire thing will take up a lot of space.

You can export correspondence using the official Telegram application for PC. This is what you need to do:

Download Telegram application to your computer and log in to it;

Now select the chat that contains correspondence you want to save by exporting it;

Click on the three dots in the upper right corner of the dialog screen, you are going to see the menu;

In this menu you need to select “Export chat history”;

Please note: This way you can export not only the chat history, but also the channel history. To do this, go to the channel and click “Export channel history”.

You are going to see a pop-up window with export settings. Here you need to select the files to be exported, the export format, date range, save location and other parameters. Then click “Export”;

Please note: Correspondence can be saved in two formats – HTML and jSON. The second option is more interesting for those users who are engaged in big data analysis, programming and related disciplines. For ordinary users, it is more convenient to use HTML.

When the export is complete, click “Show My Data” to go to the folder with the exported data.

In the folder with the exported correspondence, individual data types will be decomposed into folders. And you can view the entire correspondence in the messages.html (or jSON) file.

Please note: The larger is the correspondence, the longer it will take to export it. And the more files will be saved.

Saving correspondence in “saved messages”

Telegram has a separate analogue of the folder – “Saved Messages”. You can save important messages there by simply forwarding them. This can be done from any version of the application, both on the PC and on the phone.

Just select messages in the desired chat and click “Forward”. Select “Saved Messages” as the chat to transfer messages to.

Please note: Messages are not deleted from your “Saved Messages”. Even when the other participant removes them from the chat, they will remain in the “Saved Messages”. This is the easiest way to save important messages directly inside Telegram.

Saving correspondence in screenshots

The fastest way to save necessary messages from Telegram is to use the function of creating screenshots. It is now available on any mobile device and on computers too.

Just take screenshots of the messages you would like to keep.
